Arrive in Delhi
Arrive Delhi in the morning and transfer to our hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore the markets near the hotel or for sightseeing.
Fly to Leh and explore the local bazaars
Transfer to domestic airport for flight to Leh. Arrive in Leh (3500 m) and transfer to hotel. Morning free. Afternoon short walk around Leh bazaar.
Acclimatisation walk round the Leh valley
Today we will have an acclimatisation walk round the Leh valley. Set above Leh on the Namgyal Hill are the ruins of the Old Royal Palace. From here a winding path takes us to the Tsemo Monastery, from where we are rewarded for our efforts by magnificent views of the whole of Leh and its surrounding villages. Descending round the back of the palace we walk via Sankar to the recently built Japanese Peace Pagoda with beautiful views back to the palace and across to Stok Kangri, dominating the skyline across the valley. The rest of the day is free to explore the back streets and bazaars of Leh.
Sightseeing tour
Today there is a sightseeing tour to two of the major gompas in the area. We first drive to Shey, a former Royal Palace of the Ladakh kings. Inside is a small temple containing a 350 year old copper and gold statue of the Buddha. From Shey we drive (or we can walk across the fields) to Tikse, where we visit the monastery - perched on top of a hill -its red and white buildings can be seen for miles. A recently built temple contains a magnificent image of the Future Buddha. After visiting Thiksey we drive to Hemis; the monastery of the Dugpa Kargyutpa order built on a green hillside surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, is hidden in a gorge. It is the biggest and richest monastery in Ladakh and a must see for visitors. Sacred mask dance is performed on 9th, and 10th, day of the Tib.
Drive to Alchi
Drive to Alchi Monastery, renowned for its exquisite Kashmiri-style architecture and Lamayuru Monastery, set amidst a dramatic moonscape.
Drive to Photaksar
Journey to Photaksar, a vibrant village nestled amidst a green oasis. Experience the warm hospitality of the locals and explore the historic Wanla Gompa.
Drive to Padum
Ascend the scenic Single La pass and reach Padum, the administrative centre of Zanskar.
Explore Padum
Explore Padum, visiting the Karsha Gompa, the largest monastery in Zanskar, and Sheela village with its cascading waterfall. Take a captivating day trip to Zangla village, once the ancient capital of Zanskar.

Hike to the enigmatic Phuktal Monastery, nestled within a natural cave.
Drive to Manali
Drive through the majestic Shinkula Pass and the Atal Tunnel to reach Manali.
In Manali
Explore the charming town of Manali, including a visit to the Hadimba Devi Temple nestled amidst a cedar forest.
Drive to Chandigarh
Drive Manali – Chandigarh (305 kms / 8 hrs & Train To Delhi. After breakfast, drive to Chandigarh railway station then take the train to Delhi.
Depart Delhi
Arrive in Delhi and depart for your onward journey.
